The Modern Need of Oracles

Neo: But if you already know, how can I make a choice?
The Oracle: Because you didn’t come here to make the choice, you’ve already made it. You’re here to try to understand *why* you made it. I thought you’d have figured that out by now.

I had an interesting conversation with Kelsey Lynore of http://thetarotnook.com/ about the human need of oracles, which dates back to the dawn of civilization. The fruit of our conversing is my article on the Pythia and the Oracle of Delphi, which I presented to Kelsey to feature on her blog:

With her insightful tarot readings, Kelsey is the modern embodiment of the Pythia to me. She has twice given me readings and each time I was amazed how different the whole procedure was from a typical, cliché encounter with a fortune teller. She is nothing like a fortune teller, but rather the High Priestess, eloquent in the metaphorical language of symbols and incredibly intuitive: an ultra-modern woman coming from a long lineage of ancient wise sorceresses.

  1. I agree so much with your words about Kelsey, having had a reading done by her and looking back. What an enriching experience! The Question of Oracles is fascinating, for sure.

I remember that piece of conversation between Neo and the Oracle. It is a cool way to look at time, choice, free will and predestination as well, isn’t it? I agree with what the Oracle said, but at the same time not. Maybe it’s because “time” as we know it isn’t the reality. Looking at that conversation and remembering what I have read I see in my mind’s eye (hahaha, I just read a blog post about “the mind’s eye”) “time” , choice, predestination and free will like this energy field constantly in motion, in flux (?), it’s all these beautiful colours made of light and it’s continuously moving, changing and flowing…so yes, sometimes we revisit the “past” to understand the choices we have made, to lead us to a particular point, which helps us in healing…but then I also feel that maybe it is an opportunity to not so much undo the past as to tweak it for the better so that the “present” and the “future” is helped as well? Much like Back to the Future sort of thing 🙂

  3. I will definitely check her out. Thank you Monika? Are you upset with me because I didn’t get a chance to read the 3 post? 😦 I will when I can, I promise.

Thanks for such a great and fascinating story. I again admire the profoundity of it for one thing. I´m not able to get “likes” nor comments through at Kelsey´s blog (this is not the first time). Following it is not possible either.

I can use the search, but maybe there are others, too who wish to take a look at those video readings you once shared. Could you give a link to that post? (I bookmarked it for a better time, but can´t find it).
