Foggy Breath of Life

“THE BREATHING” by Denise Levertov

An absolute
patience.
Trees stand
up to their knees in
fog. The fog
slowly flows
uphill.
White
cobwebs, the grass
leaning where deer
have looked for apples.
The woods
from brook to where
the top of the hill looks
over the fog, send up
not one bird.
So absolute, it is
no other than
happiness itself, a breathing
too quiet to hear.

Beautiful words Monika, “Trees stand up to their knees in fog.” – wonderful. The image says it all. Enjoy Zurich. Are you going to be visiting Jung’s home?

    So lovely Monika!

Fog is a sort of weather twilight, yes? One of the things I do enjoy about living in the Pacific NW is the persistence of some foggy days. The gray lingering suits the cold rain and winter solstice mood.

    Hugs,
    Debra
